Monday Night Football: Breaking Down The Props, 49ers/Cardinals

We’re starting the see some separation in the NFC. The elites are beginning the lap the field. The defending Super Bowl Champion Giants are 3 up in the East. The 7-0 Falcons are 4 up in the South. The Bears are 1.5 up in the North, although they have the mighty Packers on their heels picking up steam. And then we have the NFC West. It was just a few short weeks ago people were touting this most improved division as perhaps one of the league’s best. Maybe we should have slowed our roll. If San Fran beats Arizona tonight, it will be four losses in a row for the Cards since opening up 4-0. And it would enable the 49ers to open a 2-game lead over both the Cards and Seattle in the race for first. So we have a very EPL-like Big 4 brewing in the NFC. Big Five if you include Green Bay and arent excluding them yet from the divisional race. We sure arent discounting them. So among this powerful pack of 49ers, Bears/Packers, Falcons and Giants, the best two records get a bye and home field in the divisional round.  The worst of this four gets a home game likely

Thursday Night Football: Breaking Down The Props, Steelers/Titans

Thursday Night NFL Football brings us the Steelers at Titans this evening. The Steelers are 2-2, desperately trying to keep up in the AFC North race with Baltimore, 4-1, and Cincinnati, 3-2. The Titans, meanwhile, are just trying to keep their season from the dumpster fire. They’re 1-4 and have lost by more than two touchdowns in each of those defeats. The Steelers are favored by 6.5 points tonight. Pittsburgh plays so down to its competition these days, that I dont know about laying that kind of number of the road. But maybe there are some props that catches the eye, so lets take a look at the prop board: Ben Roethlisberger, Over/Under 22 completions, 254.5 passing yards, 1.5 TDs……He’s had 22 completions in every game, but twice hit the number exactly. Still, thats 2-0-2 on tonight’s over this season. He went over that completion mark six times a year ago with three pushes, but otherwise has not been regularily putting up games of more than 22 completions in his career. But this is a much different Steeler team than he’s been leading for the better part of the last decade. This is a pass first team thats in the top-10 in the league in

Thursday Night Football: Breaking Down The Props, Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams

As the second quarter of the NFL season begins, we have a huge swing game in the suddenly resurgent and physical NFC West. And here’s the kicker: The game doesnt involve the San Fransisco 49ers. Instead it’s the unbeaten and Kevin Kolb-led Arizona Cardinals taking to the road, trying to stay perfect, against the 2-2 Rams. This was supposed to be a 49er runaway in this division, but so far the Cardinals, Rams and Seahawks have all looked better than expected. That said, 3-1 San Fran remains expensive chalk to win the division. Current odds still show the 49ers as -300 (bet $300 to win $100) to take the west, while the still perfect Cardinals are +300. The Seahawks and Rams remain longshots at +1000 and +1800 respectively. But we’re a little bullish on the Rams these days. We won on them last week against the Seahawks. Will we take them tonight? I think I might. Home team, underdog, against a team thats getting love from all corners of the NFL punditry right now. The Cards seem ripe for a fall. But no trigger has been pulled yet. Current lines show Arizona a 2-point favorite with the Over/Under nestled at 39.5. Sounds like a defensive
