Welcome to the Just Cover Blog. Where it does not matter if you win or lose, but whether or not you covered the spread.
About Jamie Mac:
My name is Jamie Mac. I am a passionate fan of college football and basketball and will spend most of my time here waxing philisophical about those sports, with some NFL punditry sprinkled in. My favorite teams are the Wolverines, Steelers, Hoosiers and whoever I bet on. Speaking of which, this site is obviously devoted to another one of my hobbies: sports gambling. Hopefully, we can have some fun rapping about these games and maybe win some extra pocket change along the way.
When I am not writing for JustCover, I can usually be found over at MGoBlog on either the MGoPodcast or in the diaries section.
Cheers and Good Luck!
About Hathachips:
What up. I hail from the state of MICH, love all Detroit area sports but mostly the University of Michigan. I contribute on a few other e-blogs, so check out the links. Regarding E-bets, I’ve been in the sports betting game for a few years now, it all started with a sweet parlay bet placed in Windsor where MICH beat ND, Central Michigan covered their spread and Eastern Didn’t lose by more than 17. $20 looney’s to win 60. Not bad, but not good enough. So I keep on keeping on. So far this year, with my 2 posts on the JCB I’m:
College: 8 – 5
NFL: 6 – 6
TIME TO START DOOOOOIN’ IT!
I admire your faith in Virginia and Duke being able to score more than 20 points each. I’m not so sure I share it, though. Decades of Wahoo fandom have left me dubious.
I’m the worst gambler ever.
Love the post, Hatha
The San Diego Super Chargers blow donkey. I dont see anyone winning giving the Miam Dolphins #1 a double digit head start and they matched up pretty well with the Pay Tree Otts last year. I love that NFL parlay.
Chadley Jonathan Hennington for MVP
And the 10 gamer is already done. Cincy/WVU = BOOOOO SCORE BETTER!
3-1 again in the college parlay.
THANKS A LOT TRESSEL!
Nice writeup, jamiemac. I’ve been told that since Kelly came to Oregon as OC, in games when they’ve had more than one week to prepare, the ducks have averaged 50+ pts. Might need to toss out the opener at Boise to maintain that average, though. Should be an entertaining game tonight.
Look like you nailed it tonight, jamiemac…
Interesting comments about comparing Riley and Snyder. Looks like Riley did play some decent games (LSU, Penn State, Cincy, Boise)losing most of them. The record was built against teams like Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, Portland State and Cal State Sac. Not to say Riley hasn’t done a great job but he has won against great teams outside the conference except Boise. Snyder had wins against Cal, Iowa, USC (twice)and then some big bowl wins also. Sounds like a draw. Two great jobs by exceptional coaches. Sorry last night didn’t work out.
CHIIIIIIIIIIP kelly. Helping me pay for beer.
I guess I am a liar. AND A WHORE!
I don’t know if any of the other Trophy winners had a very good backup, just in case Mr Heisman struggled. I still like Bama alot statistics be damned!!
First post but love the site!!
You can go back further. As a lifelong Auburn fan, I will always remember Pat Sullivan winning the Heisman in 1971, back when they awarded it before the season was even over. Sullivan wins it during the off-week betweent the Georgia and Alabama games, then Auburn loses to Alabama 31-7 and was blown out by Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, after having been 9-0 and in the top 5.
2007 MICHIGAN 41 – Florida (Tim Tebow) 35 + 10½ WINNER
MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICH!
The Hall thus far has had a weak schedule, but VMI their most impressive win? No way. That great entertainment and scored a little blip on the national radar, but winning by 10 @ Cornell is much better. But really, today will be the first chance for SHU to get a high-quality win, but we can still learn something from how they’ve beaten the creampuffs – after a wake-up call 2-pt win in the season opener, they have been crushing everyone – take out St. Pete’s result and margin of win averages 30 – and this has been when the bench often plays most of the second half – make no mistake, if the goal were just to score as much as possible, the Hall could have won many of these games by 60 – this hasn’t been the case with a Hall team in a long time
Great analysis, I’m definitely coming here more often. Your diaries at mgo were excellent, and these are even better. Keep up the good work!
Just laid my bet on UT. I was leaning towards UT anyway, but it’s reassuring to see my “hunch” backed by “The Lock” as I have affectionately come to refer to you, jaime mac.
Do you think Mack Brown might go ahead and “hang ‘em up” if UT does win tonight? It would be a perfect way to go out…
Love your work as always, jamie. Congrats on the big bowl season.
But fading the SEC’s record in national title games (am I using the term correctly there?) surprises me. Not sure off the top, but I’d imagine they’re 5-0 ATS as well as straight up (closest calls UT vs. FSU and LSU vs. OK, both of which were 7-point games).
I’m hoping like hell you’re right, but I think Texas’s unfamiliarity with a running game as stout as ‘Bama’s costs them.
I took Pitt and Syracuse in a two-team parlay and won, but man, Pitt made me sweat for it! :p
i like the way you break the rest of the season into three sets, and i agree for the most part, with your thinking. i worry about having to take one of two in minnesota and NW. that may be super tough. both teams are probably better than they were last year when we went into their houses.
Easily, the piece is actually the best on this noteworthy topic. I harmonise with your conclusions and will eagerly look forward to your approaching updates. A simple thanks will not just be enough, for the wonderful originality in your writing. I will immediately grab your rss feed to stay informed of any updates. Admirable work and much success in your business enterprise!
Good analysis on this site. We had Michigan St +2 today for our top game but it was a fight until the end. The remainder of our picks for today are: 4 Unit Play. #531 Take Mississippi State +1 ½ over Alabama (12 pm CBS) 4 Unit Play. #531 Take Mississippi State +1 ½ over Alabama (12 pm CBS) 4 Unit Play. #588 Take UCLA -1 ½ over Washington State (4 pm FSN) 4 Unit Play. #588 Take UCLA -1 ½ over Washington State (4 pm FSN) 4 Unit Play. #606 Take Georgia +6 ½ over Tennessee (5 pm ESPN Fullcourt) 4 Unit Play. #624 Take Maryland -8 ½ over NC State (6 pm ESPN 2) 4 Unit Play. #656 Take Northwestern -1 ½ over Illinois (6 pm Big 10 Network)
Zack. Either Novak or Gibson. With a ‘k.’
I am so excited I can not wait until Sunday’s show down!
Do you plan to keep this site updated? I sure hope so… its great!
Great Blog, Mate! I am constantly on the watch for new and interesting sports sites and postings… which is what led me here. I certainly plan on visiting again! Adios
I always love the under on Big Ten games. I was tracking it for a while and the under was coming through about 75% of the time (except in games involving Purdue). Do you have a resource to check that for the season? I was just blindly taking Big Ten home teams ATS and unders and had an incredible winning percentage for a while.
BOOOOO DON’T LISTEN TO THAT GUY HE LIES
Wow. Already lost 2. WAY TO GO ME!
Just a note of reference…Northern Iowa is UNI, not NIU (which would be Northern Illinois).

Hi guys. I think that skater Ohno is a talented skater. It is just simply amazing how the USA athletes greatly act under the tension they have to face.
Let’s have a fair fight (go Canada!)

Great stuff as always Jamie.
Good post, I’ve sent this page onto my family – we all need to read this right now.
Why come no MARYland?
Ah, the ‘93 tourney. One of my formative experiences as an M fan. I was 13 at the time and was absolutely, 100% convinced we’d win it all. That Coastal Carolina game ended up being the only easy win of the tourney. The rest were all nerve-wracking. I’ll never forget how we shut up most of the country by beating Kentucky. But then the punch in the gut that followed. The UNC game is still one of my most painful memories. I remember the local news actually showing the national-championship t-shirt that they were going to sell if we won. Sigh. A couple weeks later my family was on vacation (to Myrtle Beach, coincidentally) right after, and I ran into a guy wearing the same national championship shirt, but with UNC on it of course. I wanted to shout, “That’s OUR shirt!”
Thanks for the publicity for the Racers! I am an alum and it has been a magical year, hopefully more magic is yet to come.
I have a few (ok several) corrections:
– The MSU-KU game in ‘88 was not exactly “easy” for Kansas as the game was in doubt in the final minute and was in fact their closest game on the way to the championship, 61-58.
– Middle Tennessee is the Blue Raiders, not “Racers”.
– Murray got a 9 seed in 1998 only to run into the 8 seed, elite 8 bound Rhode Island.
– It’s Isaac Miles, not “Isiaih”.
– It’s “Isaiah Canaan”, not Cannon or Canaan. BTW look him up on youtube, he has a shot at an ESPY with a shot this year from midcourt from one knee.
Thanks David. The player names and nickname mixup is just carelessness. I appreciate you adding to the history and filling in the obvious blanks in my memory. I really did think one of the Popeye teams got a favorable seed, but now that you brought it, I remember the 8/9 game with URI you bring up. They’re only at least six years apart, you could see why I would mix them up, lol.
Glad you liked the post, thanks again for commenting and good luck to your Racers tonight against Morehead!
No pick on the Butler/Wright matchup in the Horizon? Get WITH it, Jamie, geez.
LOL
I just saw that line. Butler is favored by 7….does Wright have a chance?
Have you enjoyed all the mid-major action the last week? It’s been a blast. The CAA tourney was killer.
