Night Picks! Night Picks! Night Picks!
I’d like to thank William Buford for bricking a pair of free throws with eight seconds to go that would have blown up the +7.5. The 2-1 start to my day couldnt have happened without you! Here’s the rest of the card with active games right now. A total of four plays out there, with the next round of tips beginning in a bit more than an hour.
Alright, let’s sit back and watch the rest of the night. Here’s what’s in play and on my card for tonight.
Akron -1 over Ohio, 1 Unit….technically already posted this pick, but since its a 6:00 start just wanted to remind people about it.
Georgetown +2 over West Virginia, 2 Units……this was a mismatch on the first day of March, but the Hoyas were playing short handed and stunned in the wake of the brief hospitalization and diabteses diagnosis of Austin Freeman. Well, he’s back in the lineup and Georgetown, who might have played the roughest Big East slate of any of their league brethern, appears to be peaking. They’ll get some revenge here. And, a Big East title. Besides, I am 0-2 betting against them in this section. Might as well join the bandwagon before time runs out.
KSU +6 over Kansas, 1 Unit…….gut feeling we get a classic. KSU is good, and I just wonder if this too isnt a game like a college football bowl game where differing motivations play too big a factor. The Jawhawks want a bigger prize. The Wildcats probably wont win that prize, but they can win this one and they have double revenge. Maybe KU plays a bit like that NBA up 2-0, going on the road with a game to burn? That’s what I keep telling myself. I do think the Wildcats stand a good chance to win this one, so I’ll take a small stab with the points.
Cal -2 over UW, 2 Units downgrade to 1 unit. I just cant double dip on a Pac-10 team…..I just dont think UW gets it done. Say what you will about the Pac 10 mediocrity, the Bears really arent at fault. They played so much of the season with missing parts. Once they got back together again, they ripped off a Pac 10 title. I think they win this one fairly handily. Or at least by 3. Either way, I’ll claim it, babby.
SDSU +4 over UNLV, 2 Units…..the only teams who have topped the Aztecs in the last two months are currently ranked in the top-15. The Rebels arent ranked period. And you want to give the Aztecs a head start? I know it’s being played in Vegas, and, of course, the last non highly ranked team to beat them were the Rebs when they beat them by 10 on this court. But, I think the Aztecs are playing so much better now. And, have a bit more motivation trying to remove any debate from the selection committee’s hands. They seem too charmed to be getting more than a single possession in league play right now.
UCSB -1 over LBSU, 1 Unit…….the Gauchos finished 4 games ahead in the Big West standings than Long Beach. They won the regular season. I’ll take them straight up in this one. And, with that, make my final pick on all the mid-major and below championship games. Sometime this week, I’ll recap specifically how I did in those leagues. I think we’re ahead. Hopefully this will add to it.
