It’s a pretty nice night of college hoops. There are some big ACC games on the board. Maryland and Florida State are jockeying for position at the top of the standings. Meanwhile a reeling UNC crew goes to Virginia Tech for a critical early February bubble game. Was does it say that the Hokies, fresh off an awful looking loss to last place Miami, are favored by 3 points tonight? It says the betting public’s confidence is at an all time low in the defending champs. Tech and UNC have played some amazing games over the last three seasons. Tonight shapes up as another one. Cincy is in South Bend to play Notre Dame in an equally big Big East bubble game. Can Arizona’s resurgence tonight continue in Washington against the Huskies? Can probation shackled USC be the bubble’s best friend and give Cal another loss. How will the Zags respond to the upset over the weekend against San Fran when they take on upstart Portland, the darlings of November. All this and more, including picks on this Friday Eve:
Indiana +13 (120) over Purdue, 1 Unit…..Hoosiers have covered six of nine games, including their 4 in a row at home as an underdog. This is Indiana’s season, and I cant shake the fact they may be in position to win this one in the end. I’ll take my chances with the 13-point head start.
GaTech +13 (-120) over Duke, 1 Unit……..The Techsters won this game a month ago. Duke will get their revenge, but this is going to be close. Tech has too much talent, and confidence from their earlier win, to be totally outclassed here. These are ACC Title contenders and the game will be reflect that.
Florida State -3 over Maryland, 1 Unit….two good teams, take the short home favorite. Seems simple enough. I think the Noles interior defense flusters the Terps, forcing them to win on the perimeter. Vazquez is great, but he and the Terps come up a bit short in Tallahassee.
Arizona +10 at Washington, 1 Unit……..Huskies cant be trusted, IMHE, as heavy chalk against good teams. Really no Pac 10 can. The Wildcats have been the hot team. This game goes down to the end. I dont think the Cats will lose, let alone get run off the floor by double digits.
